DUCT Girls U14s secured the East Region League Cup with a 5-0 victory over Carnoustie Panmure. Goals from Izzy (2), Robyn, Katie and Rhia proved enough to see off a competitive opponent; and ensure the United Girls were able to enjoy a day they’ll remember for a long time.

The coaches of the group, Ian, Stuart and Forbes had this to say:

“The Dundee United CFC U14s coaching team are absolutely delighted for the girls on their fantastic achievement in winning the East Region League Cup! Their hard work, commitment, and determination have truly paid off this season.

This marks a wonderful end to the first half of the season, during which we’ve remained unbeaten and currently sit top of the league — an incredible accomplishment.

We’re all looking forward to a well-earned break, but excitement is already building as we prepare to kick off the second half of the season in August. Our Scottish Cup campaign resumes with a Last 16 clash, and we’re determined to earn our place in the Quarter Finals. Well done, girls — we couldn’t be prouder!”

Captain, Ella Colville added:

“The match was a tough one. We got an early goal which helped settle our nerves, but credit to the Carnoustie girls — they never gave up and really challenged us, especially in the first half.

As a team, we knew we had what it takes. The key was staying composed and focused, knowing that if we kept our heads in the game, they would eventually tire.

Our aim was to strike early in the second half, and that’s exactly what we did. From that point on, we really settled into the game, got on the ball, and let our football do the talking.

Every single player dug deep and played their part. It was a great day all round and the perfect way to  end the first half of the season.”

Jamie Kirk, Chief Executive of the Community Trust, concluded:

I’d like to congratulate the players, their parents and carers and the coaches. It’s a real commitment across the team, and I’m so pleased to see it paying dividends for those involved. The group of players has, overall, been together a long time and while it’s nice to see another of our teams enjoy cup success, its especially nice to know the girls have been able to achieve something they’ll remember for the rest of their lives with their friends.

We would also like to thank our sponsors, Primero Contracts for their continued support of the Girls Community Team programme, and the overall work of the Community Trust.
